The MIME graduate program aims to provide students with an outstanding academic and research experience in the department focus areas. Research topics are at the leading edge of the technology or science in the respective areas and typically supported by industry or government institutions. Students must demonstrate proficiency in one of the two areas of thermal science or solid mechanics. A third area of research focus is also available to students interested in research on advanced manufacturing processes, which could integrate portions of the other two areas. Each focus area course program and proficiency requirements are defined and evaluated by the faculty in the area. Our students must achieve the following outcomes: Become proficient in their focus area core courses and research. Produce high quality research and communicate their research clearly and concisely. Be able to find jobs in industry, consulting, and government agencies.
