Course Description

Expansion of pre-school provision internationally has stimulated initiatives from governments in many countries to increase the status and levels of professional qualification of their early years workforce. There is increasing encouragement to qualify at graduate level to equip those working in the sector to support and enhance children’s development and learning. On this degree programme you develop relevant and specialist knowledge within sociology, psychology, education, health, legislation and policy. You develop theoretical and practical skills that can be applied to leading early years practice, supporting learning and further training in various disciplines including social work, nursing and teaching. Your studies include child development, managing behaviour, and modules across all 3 years on how to support children's learning across all areas of the curriculum. In most modules there is an emphasis on comparing approaches taken internationally, evaluating good practice in different countries. This programme introduces you to ideas about teaching and develops emerging skills as a critical and reflective practitioner.
