BA (Hons) Computer Games Animation

Course Description

Character animation involves creating the illusion of thought and emotion through a character’s physical actions. If you have a passion for designing and animating 2D and 3D computer characters for games and the web then this is the course for you. We develop your creative talent so you can also design, model and rig your own characters prior to making them move. We place great importance on drawing skills, observation and the principles of animation. You are also taught acting theory and body language as applied to the animation of 2D and 3D character animation. While the course focuses on character animation, you also develop essential broader skills in the modeling, rigging and animation of inanimate objects plus key skills in compositing and visual effects. Particular emphasis is placed on: * drawing and concept art * 2D and 3D character animation * character design * 3D rigging and modeling * acting for animation * scriptwriting and storytelling * professional portfolio development. *This course has a Foundation Year for applicants who don’t meet the requirements for Year 1 entry. Career outcomes

Upon graduation you will be ideally suited to a career as a 2D or 3D animator in the film, TV, games or web industries. Graduates have gone on to enjoy careers as designers, cocnept artists, character animators or 3D generalists with a wide range of companies including Double Negative, Moving Picture Company, Glassworks, Cinesite, Passion Pictures, DreamWorks, Pixar and Framestore.
