Course Details

BA (Hons) Business and Economics

Course Description

A business studies degree usually contains some economics modules, but studying the two subjects together allows you fully understand some of the most pressing problems that the world faces today, such as the recession. At a time when there is constant debate regarding scarcity of resources, economics is key because it looks at how these resources should be allocated. Economics is about the real world, examining the major issues in today’s society. Daily news is dominated by Economics: taxes, interest rates, price movements (food, housing, petrol etc) and the job market. Practically all issues in modern society, both internationally and locally, can be viewed from an economic perspective. A high status subject area, the skills you’ll learn during your time at the University of South Wales are complementary to those within the study of business, such as aspects of finance and accountancy. If you are looking for a Business degree, but would like to specialise in a subject to broaden your prospects, then choosing to combine it with economics is an excellent choice.
