Course Description

The ACCA Professional Qualification, covering all accounting disciplines, can act as a springboard to career success in many different areas of accountancy and finance. The City Campus, Newport is an ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner, the highest level of accreditation that a tuition provider can obtain. We are also an ICAEW Partner in learning and a CIMA Learning Quality Partner. Accountancy programmes have been delivered at our Newport campuses since the early 1970’s and September 2013 saw the celebration of 40 years of ACCA at Newport. We are also one of only a few study centres nationwide who are able to offer an internally assessed course for all of the ACCA Fundamentals Level papers. We won the PQ Magazine ‘Public Sector Accountancy College of the Year’ Award in 2010 and 2012, the only institution to have won the award twice, and we were shortlisted for the Award in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Further, overall ACCA course satisfaction stood at 98% in the National Student Survey 2013. We also have a rich history of prizewinning students. For example, one of our ICAEW students came joint top in South Wales for his performance in the Professional Stage Financial Accounting exam in December 2012. Also, two of our ACCA students won national prizes in 2013 – James Leaves won the Terry Weston Memorial Prize, and Lucy Saunders won the Julian Hodge Bank Prize (more on this story can be found here). Furthermore, in 2011, Newport ACCA student Amanda Say was the winner of the PQ Magazine ‘Part-Time Student of the Year’ Award Our Accounting teaching team includes 11 qualified accountants who have significant industry and accounting practice experience, as well as significant experience of teaching professional accountancy qualifications. Question practice tutorials reinforce technical knowledge and exam technique each and every week on all of our programmes. The learning environment here is friendly and supportive, and we are able to offer an exceptional level of pastoral support. In short, the combination of the practical experience and technical expertise of our lecturing team and our excellence in teaching and learning make our ACCA course very special.
