About BA Czech and Spanish Our Joint Honours degree in Czech and Spanish enables you to study two contrasting languages and cultures in the context of their speakers' history, literature, experiences. Spanish is the second most widely spoken European language in the world, while the modern Czech Republic is at the heart of the expanded European Union and a key strategic and trading partner of the UK. You take units in both languages in year one, and choose from a range of options in years two and four, combining cultural, historical and sociological approaches in units ranging from South American politics to Czech literature and cinema. In language classes, you will develop speaking, listening, reading, writing and translation skills, using a range of textbooks, media and internet resources.
