Course Description

Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Art and Design is a specialist programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the art, craft and design sectors. The HNC allows students to experiment with Art and Design projects. Students will work to both given and self defined briefs to create a portfolio of art and design work. The course covers a range of units. It introduces students to a broad range of practical skills in both two and three dimensions and develops a critical awareness of the historical, contextual and social issues relevant to art and design practice. This course is assessed through continuous coursework, such as practical projects, visual and oral presentations and written assignments.
