LLB Law

Course Description

The LLB Law (UCAS course code M10K) has been designed to provide committed individuals with an accelerated route into the business world and legal professions. This is a law degree with a commercial emphasis and so, from the third semester, students will study business-orientated law subjects, choosing to specialise in certain areas from commercial options in the final two semesters. Designed with employability in mind, students will be introduced to the expectations, requirements and contextual aspects of entering the legal profession. These focus on personal development and the skills and attributes required from graduates in the legal and business worlds. In your first year, you will have the opportunity to study towards the KPA Level 3 Award in Employability alongside your degree. This Award is designed to build on what you learn in your degree in order to help you develop employability skills that are relevant for the workplace. The LLB Law is recognised as a qualifying law degree (QLD) by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board. This means that graduates will gain the maximum exemptions needed to progress to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC). Almost all QLDs take 3 years or more, but this degree is designed to be completed in 2 calendar years, which means that students’ academic and vocational studies will be completed and you can start a training contract or pupillage after only 3, rather than 4 years.
