Course Description

George Brown College’s Bachelor of Applied Business Degree – Financial Services provides you with a challenging and rewarding four-year program, combining the benefits of applied, practical education with a bachelor’s degree. This program was developed with employers to create graduates who can thrive in today’s financial services industry. Whether you are seeking a career as a professional accountant or a financial planner, this program provides the skills, knowledge and real-world experience to help you succeed. This exciting program offers the following additional benefits: One mandatory co-op work term and two optional co-op work terms built into the program. Accounting, banking management, administration and financial planning theory, as well as the practice of applying concepts in the real world through the use of today’s current, industry-leading software applications. A state-of-the-art facility that includes network-ready wireless classrooms and study areas. Curriculum that is current and has been developed in association with the major banks, financial planning firms, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, and the Financial Planners Standards Council. George Brown College has been granted consent by the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a five-year term starting December 2007. An application for renewal of the consent has been submitted and the current consent remains in effect until a decision on the renewal application is made. George Brown College shall ensure that all students admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Business – Financial Services program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame.
