Course Description

Anthropology is a discipline concerned with how humans and human societies evolve through cultural and biological processes. Anthropology integrates a wide range of perspectives on human behavior, culture, and society. Students of anthropology at Florida Gulf Coast University learn the basic concerns and approaches through four sub-fields of the discipline: archaeology, physical anthropology, cultural anthropology, and anthropological linguistics. Both a major and minor in anthropology are offered in this program. The anthropology major is for anyone interested in working with people in all of their cultural diversity, solving social problems, teaching social sciences, and examining human behavior and biology from an evolutionary point of view.
