This course is designed to prepare you for a career as an architectural building designer or draftsperson. You will learn about architectural design and the construction of residential and commercial buildings. Applying the principles of environmental sustainability to projects will be an important part of your studies. By drawing using manual and computer aided drafting you will learn to communicate design ideas and technical construction information in 2D and 3D. You will gain valuable skills from the design stage through to selection of materials, presentation of the design and management of the project.

Career opportunities for graduates include working as an architectural technician/draftsperson for architects, building contractors, and building designers or in the building management department of commercial enterprises or government departments. With experience, graduates may work as a building designer in their own right.
