Major Studies The Bachelor of Music (Classical) combines individual lessons and master classes - divided into instrumental groupings: Strings, Piano, Woodwind, Brass, Guitar, Voice and Accordion. Accompaniment for pianists, Orchestral excerpts for orchestral instruments and Language for Singers are included within the master class component. These units involve ongoing investigation into performance mechanics and performance practices. Performance Studies This unit investigates specific genres of music with a rich collection of styles in order to direct the students performance towards a period specific investigation of Historically Informed Performance practice (HIP). Concert Practice This unit involves masterclasses and performances in AIM’s Concert Hall, reflecting the work being undertaken 
in Performance Studies, Major Study 
and Ensemble. Ensemble
 The foundation performance opportunity at AIM is the Ensemble. Students will 
be assigned an ensemble, rehearsing for an entire trimester and will then be provided the opportunity to rehearse, record and perform with a variety of chamber groups. Academic Studies 
All Bachelor of Music students 
undertake a series Academic Studies units. These units cover theoretical and aural musicianship as well as historical and cultural studies of music. In the Foundation stages (1–2) of the degree, students cover a broad range of music styles and genres, including western art music and contemporary popular music. In the Industry stages (3–6) of the degree, students are able to focus their critical thinking in a variety of specialist areas including contemporary, jazz, baroque, classical, romantic, avant garde, music theatre, film, roots music, world music and latin music. Associated Studies (Electives) Students select two associated study units (dependable on pre-requisites) 
from a suite of offerings including Teaching Techniques, Conducting, Movement for Stage, Body Awareness and Psychology of Performance, Arts Management and many more. Collaboration
