About Us

The University of Ballarat (UB) is one of Australia's newest and most progressive universities, with a history of providing tertiary education and training dating back more than 140 years. It is predominantly a regional institution, with three campuses in Ballarat and one each in Horsham, Stawell and Ararat. It also has a national and international focus and is actively building extensive partnerships and strategic alliances beyond its immediate region. Up to 25,000 students are enrolled in a broad range of TAFE and Higher Education programs offered to meet the region's diverse education and training needs. UB Tec also offers technical education to senior secondary school students. The University places great emphasis on the quality of its teaching and its expanding, highly productive research capability. Higher Education graduates consistently record amongst the highest levels in Australia of satisfaction with their educational experience at UB. Employment and salary outcomes for graduates are equal to, or better than, the national norms. In its teaching and research, UB has established strong links with business, industry and the community. Through its TAFE Division, and increasingly through its Higher Education Division, the organisation has developed close relationships with regional industry and business. In addition, UB has a significant international profile with more than 4500 students from many countries.
