Course Description

You will learn why crime occurs, why it varies in nature and rate across geographical areas and how to evaluate the effectiveness of crime prevention policies. You will also gain expertise in forensic psychology, causes of deviant behaviour, and public safety and security. Graduates will have the ability to evaluate the criminal justice process and consider new and radical alternatives for dealing with crime - skills which employers such as the police, courts, government departments and law commissions regard very highly. Areas of study include: communications, criminal justice, English/literature, history-politics, Indigenous studies, international studies*, Japanese*, philosophy*, psychological studies, rights and justice, sociology, writing. * Mt Helen only.
