Course Description

Biotechnology is an exciting field of science with important applications in medicine, agriculture and food production. As a graduate, you can work in many areas including producing vaccines, antibiotics and drugs, creating alternative fuels, quality control, and even producing the latest flavours and sweeteners for the food industry. During your degree, you'll learn how to use innovative and sustainable technologies for the benefit of your community, wider Australia and overseas. This interdisciplinary, laboratory-based program has a core of basic science studies including principles of modern instrumentation, experimental design and data analysis, biochemical and microbiological techniques and recombinant DNA technology. You can also explore in depth your favourite area through a research project in your final year and the choice of electives.
