The Master of Science (Chemistry) is designed for recent graduates or mid-career professionals from industry or education who wish to extend their chemical knowledge and skills beyond the undergraduate level. It also provides an alternative route to subsequent PhD studies for students who do not possess a Science Honours degree. Your degree: This course prepares students for the demands of postgraduate research programs (e.g. M. Phil and PhD) by further developing their individual research skills, while simultaneously exposing them to cutting edge topics such as supramolecular science, ecotoxicology, atmospheric modelling, rational drug design, computational chemistry and laser spectroscopy. Each of the chemistry electives offers opportunities to pursue small projects, or learn advanced skills by participating in group activities with leading researchers. What you study: Core science subjects you will study include: Fundamentals of Science Communication Fundamentals of Science Laboratories Fundamentals of Science Data Current Questions in Science. Four chemistry subjects are selected from the following list: Advanced Analytical Chemistry Elucidating Molecular Structure Advanced Organic Synthesis and Reactivity Intelligent Materials and their Applications Environmental Chemistry and Climate Change. There is also the opportunity to undertake one or both the following subjects: Advanced Chemistry Laboratory Project and Literature Report in Chemistry; subject to suitable performance and the availability of a suitable project and supervisor.
