The study of law helps you acquire skills in reasoning, analysis, formulating sound arguments, problem-solving and effective presentation. You can choose to spend a third or half of your study time on law. A popular choice is to combine law with business, selecting law modules that are linked to the business world. These include ‘Contract Law’, ‘Employment Law’ and ‘Commercial Law’. You can also combine law with any of the other subjects in the Combined Subjects programme. If you decide to become a solicitor or barrister, you would need to complete a conversion course before progressing to vocational training. Law in Combined Subjects is not a qualifying law degree. Our law department has continued to provide outstanding teaching and support. That is why we are joint 2nd in the UK for satisfaction with teaching, according to the Guardian University Guide 2014. Our tutors provide a very supportive learning environment. We are fortunate to have excellent facilities that include a mock courtroom. Throughout your degree you will have a Personal Tutor who will monitor progress, discuss options and offer appropriate guidance.
