Why study this programme? The LLB Hons Law programme is a three-year Qualifying Law Degree (QLD). In addition to the core knowledge required for a Qualifying Law Degree, you will have the opportunity to study a range of specialist courses. The programme will equip you with practical transferable skills that will prepare you for future employment in a range of working environments. You will benefit from presentations by guest speakers and networking events with employers, professional bodies and alumni to help you with your career planning. You will also have access to workshops and events designed to assist you with your CV and job applications and in developing a professional digital presence. The School of Law has good links with a number of employers in London, including law firms, barristers' chambers and financial institutions, through its well-established Law Advisory Forum. We have a long-standing record of providing opportunities for LLB Hons Law students to apply to be selected to take part in placements, internships and mentoring schemes with a variety of employers in the legal and regulatory sectors. LLB Hons Law students may apply to be selected to undertake pro bono work through various schemes run by the School, both on credit-bearing courses and as extracurricular activities. These include our Legal Advice Centre, winner of a 2015 LawWorks & Attorney General Student Pro Bono Award for its 'tremendous impact on the community'. The centre enables students to work closely with volunteer lawyers and professionally qualified members of academic staff to provide advice to the public. The Innocence Project London is also run from the School of Law. Currently one of only ten international projects accepted as members of the US-based Innocence Network, and the only UK member, the project enables our students to apply to be selected to work on real cases concerning possible miscarriages of justice. This important work can lead to the submission of appeal applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The school has a tradition of extracurricular activities, including a student-run Law Society. There are opportunities to take part in mooting, including competing to be part of the team entered for the OUP and BPP Mooting Competition against other university teams. Our LLB Hons Law students were finalists in the OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition 2014-15. Other competitions entered include the National Client Interviewing Competition. (Please note that all employability and extra-curricular opportunities listed above may be open only to certain students, and may require successfully passing a selection process.) The School of Law is proud of its continued high academic standards and the student experience it offers. Under the law subject area of the 2017 Complete University Guide and the 2016 Complete University Guide, of the universities listed in the London region, LLB Law at Greenwich was ranked first in the student satisfaction category. In addition, the LLB Hons Law programme at Greenwich has received excellent satisfaction ratings in the National Student Survey. In the 2014 and 2015 surveys respectively, for the LLB Hons Law programme, 97% and 96% of respondents indicated overall satisfaction.
