Course Description

It's all about design and construction with a focus on technology. You'll learn how to solve design problems, cost and analyse project resources, conduct tests and research and gather and analyse data. It's these skills that will help give the expert advice needed in the design and construction industry. From your second year of study you will undertake a specialisation in civil engineering. Your study areas include 'fundamentals of structural design','transport, infrastructure', 'waste and wastewater infrastructure design', 'geo-mechanics' and more. You'll get experience in the workforce through an industry-based course. When you graduate, you may work in the field of civil infrastructure systems, such as road, airports and railways. You may also seek employment in water supply and wastewater systems, water resources and catchments, and possibly mining.
