Course Description

A major in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine will allow you to understand the causes and mechanisms of human disease, as well as how they are investigated in the laboratory. The units offered within this major cover the fundamentals of disease mechanisms, the range of human diseases and their investigation, treatment and prevention. Optional units at Level 3 will give you the opportunity to focus in more detail on two major topics within pathology. The theoretical components of the course will be complemented by a series of laboratory and tutorial classes utilising clinical material and cases and well as relevant research topics within the field. Students will be given the opportunity to interact with traditional academic staff, as well as working professional pathologists from PathWest.
