Course Description

As part of the significant curriculum reform at the University of Western Australia, the undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc) has been replaced by the postgraduate qualification Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). The course consists of a total of 32 units over 4 years comprising the integration of the following modules: DMD Core Modules, which include fundamental dental and medical sciences together with DMD clinical practice modules, which include clinical dental sciences structured in 5 streams ranging from patient care to preventative and conservative dentistry to restorative dentistry to child and adolescent dental health. There is early clinical contact from first year. In the third year students will actively engage in a research project. Whilst the final year is occupied by quasi-independent but supervised practice which takes place inside and outside of the School with compulsory rural and private practice rotations. The course is 48 weeks in length per year.

Career outcomes
