Master of Agricultural Science: Soil Science and Plant Nutrition

Course Description

Soil management is of great importance in all environments and depends on an in-depth understanding of the nature of soil and how it responds to various forms of disturbance with a view to its sustainable utilisation. Australian agriculture is a key part of the world's food supply system. The challenges of a rapidly growing population, climate change, and the limitations of land and fresh water all impact on the ability of agriculture to meet the demand for food, fibre and fuel. To address this demand, an understanding of the complex factors that shape agricultural systems is necessary. A Master of Agricultural Science, with a specialisation in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, will provide students with an understanding of the physical, chemical, biological, and hydrological processes that effect soil, as well as the design and implementation of appropriate soil management practices.
