MSc(Accounting and Finance)

Course Description

Accounting and finance are important communication devices within society and convey important information to business, organisations and in the broader social context. On this specialist Masters programme we take an in-depth examination of accounting, finance, and the interconnected nature of these areas within business, organisations, the economy, and society. This involves a focus on the broader context within which accounting and finance decisions are made, including an understanding of the implications of legal,, regulatory and practice. The programme is research-led; it examines current issues and ideas in accounting practice, based around fundamental subject areas in accounting and finance. In examining current issues and ideas in depth, this puts the practice, theory and context of accounting into a relevant framework for research. Equally, accounting and finance decisions often have broader ethical considerations. We thus embed ethical considerations throughout the programme, so that students can understand, identify, and evaluate fundamental principles of ethics, in the development of ‘better’ professional practice.
