New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3)

Course Description

Get a solid foundation along your chosen road in the automotive industry by developing your engineering skills in either of the following strands: Automotive Light Automotive Electrical Heavy Vehicle Motorsport Whether you are already working in the industry or not, this qualification will enhance your basic workshop engineering skills, getting them up to industry standard. All strands cover workshop safety featuring training on the correct policies, procedures and regulations necessary to enable safe and efficient operation in the workplace. Each strand then covers specialist tool and equipment use as well as the study and practical application of the relevant electronic technology, brakes and steering, engines and cooling, transmission and driveline, tuning and fuel, electrical and HVAC systems. Upon graduation you can continue with study at level 4 attaining further specialist knowledge and skills in automotive engineering, or gain work as an apprentice technician under supervision within your field of expertise. This course is available at our fully equipped workshops at MIT Otara. The Motorsport strand will be conducted at MIT Pukekohe. It is recommended students undertake a minimum 40 hours of relevant work experience during the duration of the programme.
