Bachelor of Applied Counselling (Level 7)

Course Description

Develop all the skills and knowledge to help others realise their full potential, and get hands-on experience in a counselling practice. Combine knowledge on different counselling world views and theories, including Te Tiriti O Waitangi, with psychology, sociology, difference, human growth and development, working with children and young people, working with couples and families and social policy. In years two and three you will apply your skills in practicums in counselling agencies and schools. Learn to develop your own professional practice model and become familiar with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors' Code of Ethics. You will get real-world skills through practicums and supervision (fees for supervision payable by the student). Our course has a bi-cultural and indigenous focus woven through it.
