Course Description

You will design, produce and service machinery, equipment, tools and mechanical systems. The New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) will provide you with both the theoretical understanding and the practical skills necessary to work as an engineering technician in the mechanical engineering and mechanical services fields. As an engineering technician you are an essential member of the design team and will be sought after by industry for the high levels of technical knowledge and practical skills that you have. You'll gain a broad understanding of the engineering fundamentals and skills used to carry out the procedures associated with technical investigations. You will also be able to clearly and concisely process and report on the results of these investigations. The compulsory subjects cover the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering, while the elective courses cover the application of theory to industrial practice. This qualification has been developed to meet international benchmarks for engineering technicians. The analytical, problem solving and project management skills gained through mechanical engineering training can also be transferred to many other occupations and provide a great platform for careers in business, management and design.
