New Zealand Diploma in Marine Engineering (Level 6)

Course Description

This programme provides a qualification for students wanting to work as Engineering Officers on a wide range of foreign going ships from cruise liners, ferries, and container vessels through to support vessels in the oil and gas industry. The programme will prepare you for an interesting career in an international industry which has solid demand for well-trained and motivated people. Completion of this programme will enable you to obtain a sea-going certificate of competency from Maritime New Zealand which will entitle you to sail as an Engineer Watchkeeping Officer on foreign going vessels operating worldwide. This will enable you to ultimately progress to sailing as a Chief Engineer on any vessel sailing world-wide. This qualification includes New Zealand Certificate in Maritime Crewing (Level 4) combined with seatime which forms the first year of our three Diploma's (Nautical Science, Marine Engineering and Marine Electro-Technology (Level 6). It is expected that you will continue on to one of these Diploma's.
