Course Description

This degree programme suits inquiring and creative minds, and those seeking careers in television, radio, film and other media. Students will investigate the creation, manipulation and processing of digital content for new communication and media technologies. Students are encouraged to find their own creative identity and to express themselves through digital content. The course includes the social science theoretical frameworks in which content production is embedded and uses selected digital media to provide technical treatments of media content production. The rapidly changing digital media and culture industries offer many career opportunities in a wide range of industry sectors, including television, radio, film and new media. Digital multimedia technologies are also being used to create content for education, non-broadcast parts of the AV sector and in industries such as travel and tourism. The market for skills in all of these areas is strong and expanding whilst the project management experience you can gain is valued across many job sectors. Placement options Although not a formal requirement of the degree, students are encouraged to seek placements, internships, work experience and volunteering opportunities to develop their professional and personal portfolio. The course has links with IT departments and information units in all types of organisations, including the BBC, Granada TV, law firms, schools, universities, NHS and public authorities in the UK and abroad.
