Course Description

This programme aims to provide you with a pragmatic and professional approach to engineering and designing new products. You will learn how to use technology in innovative ways to make things work, and how to research and explore materials and production methods to make exciting yet realistic proposals for new machines and products. You will undertake live projects with external industrial and manufacturing companies that will boost your employability skills. At the end of your degree you will present your work at a professional show and in a published yearbook, both of which are viewed by industry representatives and practising designers. This degree programme is professionally accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Features & benefits of the course This degree course shares a common first year with our BSc degree in Product Design and Technology, so you may be able to transfer between courses.This degree programme is professionally accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Successful completion of this degree is your first step towards achieving professional registration and inclusion on the Engineering Council’s national register of professional engineers and technicians. Placement options The four-year sandwich route provides the opportunity for you to spend your third year on industrial placement either in the UK or further afield. Sandwich placements provide the necessary experience for you to apply for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech). Experience has shown that placements can lead to improved performance in the final year and boost your employment prospects on graduation.
