MSc Advanced Computer Science is for computer science or related study graduates. The content of the study route is focused on both a theoretical computer science approach. Students successfully completing this degree title will: Understand concepts and be able to apply appropriate techniques across a broad range of specialist computing subjects; and Be able to carry out a research-informed, practical project involving system construction or experimentation work. Placement options There may be the possibility of basing some of your dissertation on work done while working in an organisation.

This course is a good foundation for a PhD and it will equip you for a range of IT positions in the private and public sectors. The IT industry consists of many different roles, so our courses allow you to keep your options open by retaining breadth of study while allowing for some specialisation through choice of units and the project. Our MSc graduates have entered a wide range of industries, and several have gone on to PhDs, including in the School of Computing, Mathematics and Digital Technology.
