Learn all about Jane Austen’s novels, the world in which she (and her characters) lived and the responses to her work and the heroes and villains that she created. You’ll study the Regency period and will gain an understanding of the social and cultural landscape in England during this time and how Jane Austen responded to it in within her novels. You will also explore Jane Austen’s work in a modern context by examining the relationship between today’s readers and Austen’s world, the interpretations of her work by film directors and the appeal her work holds for other writers.
