Summer program in history of medicine

Course Description

This course allows you to explore the history of medicine, addressing core issues of medicine throughout the ages. Reflect on the changing images of the body, the emergence of the medical profession- and its relationship with patients and the role that medicine has had in society. You will gain knowledge of key themes in medical history through this module, which will enable you to make connections between medicine and its wider relation with society. In past years students have visited the Science Museum, the Hunterian Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons and the Sir Alexander Fleming Museum. As well as this students will get the opportunity to explore a range of world-leading medical and scientific libraries and collections.
