This course runs in 2016/17. Medical and Pharmacological Sciences is an expanding scientific discipline which has furthered our understanding of pain and disease processes and led to the development of important drugs to treat many medical conditions. The Medical and Pharmacological Sciences course has a translational scientific ethos designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to take a drug from development through to the patient; providing a combined understanding of both the diagnostic techniques utilised in the laboratory and the mechanistic functioning of whole body and cellular systems. The course will give you a sound foundation in several areas of biology that support an understanding of pharmacology.

This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills that will be attractive to many different types of employers and allows you to become a more enterprising individual. Our graduates have gone onto careers in drug discovery and development and clinical trials within the pharmaceutical industry and university and hospital departments. We offer sponsored summer studentships which you can apply for in a variety of areas e.g. anticancer, cardiovascular, antimicrobial drug discovery, toxicology, and projects in schools to enhance your employability.
