The Oil, Gas and Energy Law LLM is one of a portfolio of degrees offered by Coventry Law School. It seeks to develop industry professionals working within the energy sector who are looking to gain a deeper understanding of the wider legal issues surrounding the oil, gas and energy sectors, and those who wish to enter the sector. Offering an international student experience, the opportunity to undertake an internship (subject to availability and competitive application) at an organisation within the energy sector and integrated research, the course will develop valued skills whilst offering students further opportunities to gain experience of working within the industry.

Law graduates of the LLM Oil, Gas and energy Law will enhance their knowledge on the oil and gas industry. They will be able apply their knowledge to a wide variety of situations. While very many law graduates take professional exams in law and go on to practice law either in the UK or abroad, many others pursue alternative careers. Particularly with those who have chosen to pursue a postgraduate qualification in law, as the skills gained by undertaking a postgraduate law degree are in great demand from non-legal employers. For non-law graduates the programme aims to enhance the employability of professionals who seek to upgrade their skills while at the same time gaining formal academic recognition for such upgrading. Students will gain a number of transferable skills transferrable skills, including, working independently and reflecting on feedback to improve their performance. The ability to think analytically; using the skills to construct sound discussion.
