Environmental engineering skills are in high demand and the UK jobs advertised for the environmental risk and sustainability sector in the first three months of last year is 50% more than in the whole of previous year. The Institute of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management have joined with UK Government to attract more flood & coastal engineers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics, the careers in the field of Environmental Engineering are expected to grow in USA by 15% by 2022. According to the UN, increasing climate, demographic (urbanisation), socio-economic and environmental changes are increasing the Engineering skill shortage worldwide to deliver UN’s Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development Goals.

Graduates from these courses will be able to work for government departments, environmental regulators (Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency), local authorities, international development agencies and non-governmental organisations.
