Course Description

This double degree has been designed for high achievers wishing to become professionals in the areas of economics and finance within a legal context. The practical skills you will learn in Law include hands-on skills like critical analysis, written and oral communication, legal research, negotiation and advocacy. You will also gain specialised knowledge of fiscal and monetary policies and economic theory at both micro and macro levels opening up a wide range of legal roles in private, government or corporate organisations. You will develop expertise in business and commercial enterprise, and learn about the behaviour of consumers and firms, the labour market, the environment, and international trade and how to raise, allocate and use financial resources and address global economic issues. This degree: In the first year of your Law double degree, your Bachelor of Laws subjects must be completed full-time, except where Faculty approval is given on equity grounds. In the following four years of the degree, students enrol in Law subjects and Arts subjects. Refer to the Bachelor of Laws and the Bachelor of Economics and Finance for information on core subjects and electives available. We believe that practical experience is a vital part of your legal training. We are the only law school in Australia that requires you to complete a legal internship. This means you get to apply your legal knowledge to real life situations as part of your degree.
