Course Description

With so many majors to choose from in the Bachelor of Arts, this double degree combination is one of our most popular. It provides the foundation for a career in an extensive range of legal work and industries. Modern languages, media studies, philosophy, politics and more: every arts specialisation is relevant within a number of legal contexts. The practical skills in this flexible and versatile degree include hands-on skills like critical analysis and thinking, written and oral communication, legal inquiry, negotiation and advocacy, all of which are necessary for you to excel in the legal profession. Through reading and research you will attain a broader understanding about the world we live in through a range of perspectives. You will be able to break down and translate complex information and present it effectively to a range of audiences understanding its social and legal implications. By combining law with an arts specialisation, you are able to carve out a career of your choice and gain highly competitive skills in a global workplace. This degree: In the first year of your Law double degree, your Bachelor of Laws subjects must be completed full-time, except where Faculty approval is given on equity grounds. In the following four years of the degree, students enrol in Law subjects and Arts subjects. Refer to the Bachelor of Laws and the Bachelor of Arts for more information about majors and electives available. We believe that practical experience is a vital part of your legal training. We are the only law school in Australia that requires you to complete a legal internship. This means you get to apply your legal knowledge to real life situations as part of your degree.
