Wayne JohnsonAmerican Studies introduces you to the varied culture, society and history of the USA. It offers an interesting inter-disciplinary approach, studying a range of history, film, literature and culture relevant to America and its global influence. This wide ranging approach provides the kind of broad-based education desired by today’s employers in both the private and public sectors. The cultural aspects make the subject especially valuable to those seeking careers in media, education and the arts. American Studies is taught by a well-qualified team of experts, enjoying close connections with History, English, Film Studies and Media, pairing with these subjects within the Joint Honours Programme. You will have the opportunity at Level 2 to spend a semester studying in America at colleges with which York St John has enjoyed long term relationships, and which offer high quality education in a safe and friendly environment.
