If you are seeking a high-level career in accountancy, finance, banking, insurance, the public sector, or general management, this course will equip you with the skills you need. The course team has excellent relations with local employers and national accounting bodies which is reflected in their support of the course through annual students prizes and guest presentations. This course is currently awaiting approval. Once approved you will gain significant exemptions from the exams, including nine from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), nine from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and seven from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The industrial placement year is recognised by CIMA and ACCA as one of the three years of postgraduate experience required for formal certification.

Opportunities for employment will be available across the entire spectrum of the finance and accounting sectors. Many new graduates choose to pursue a career with an accountancy firm and qualify as a professional accountant; others complete their professional training in industry or the public sector. Openings will be available with the major international accountancy firms, UK based accountancy practices, multinational manufacturers and retailers, banks, commerce and government agencies. Throughout the degree you will be given careers talks by University careers staff and, through links established with national recruitment agencies, you will be made aware of part-time vacation opportunities to facilitate the progression from University to the work place.
