The Department of Communicative Disorders has been part of the University of Redlands campus for more than 50 years. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders and a Master of Science in Communicative Disorders. Both programs are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). Graduates from the Master of Science program meet academic and clinical practicum standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. Graduates also meet the requirements for the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The course of study in the department is designed to develop excellence in academics and clinical practice. The department values a strong liberal arts foundation to develop thinking skills and communication abilities. The collaborative relationship among students and faculty is personal, meaningful and contributes to a reputation for producing caring and expert professionals.

Students integrate the theoretical concepts of communication processes and disorders in multiple environments. 3. Students describe the type of communication disorders encountered in various settings. 4. Students describe the components of a clinical assessment. 5. Students demonstrate how to plan and organize a treatment session. 6. Students can interpret a report that shows how to document treatment outcomes. 7. Students begin to locate and search for the experimental literature. 8. Students begin to integrate the experimental literature into clinical practice.
