Aerospace Engineering Beng Hons

Course Description

This course introduces you to core aerospace concepts such as propulsion and aerodynamics before allowing you to specialise your learning. Our BEng degree will provide you with the engineering knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the growing aerospace industry. Links with giants such as Boeing, Rolls-Royce Aerospace and Airbus coupled with our teaching, research and new aerospace facilities, will bring the industry to life for our undergraduate students. This degree has three taught years and students following this route will probably need to complete some further study should they wish to become chartered engineers. For some students, especially those from overseas, the preferred route is to do our BEng course and then stay on to complete an MSc degree.

Career outcomes

These degree courses are in the process of being accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.
