There was an item in the paper about vagrant youngsters from central and southern Europe swarming into the Netherlands. Why have these youngsters left their homes? Why do they come to the Netherlands? What are we doing about them? And how many of them are there? To gain insight into issues like migration, research can be conducted from a political science, sociology, psychology, geography or anthropology perspective. The bachelor’s programme in Behaviour and Society introduces students to all these perspectives and teaches them how they are linked. This bachelor’s programme provides a solid foundation for a master’s in the field of social and behavioural sciences and for a start on the labour market. The home base for the bachelor’s programme in Behaviour and Society is Almere. In the first year most of the courses are given there, though in the second and third year many of them are also given in Amsterdam. This bachelor’s programme focuses on the study of behaviour and society as a social process. Attention is devoted to the connection between the development of the individual and society, and regional and historical differences in this social process.
