BA (HONS) CRIMINOLOGY

Course Description

On this course, you will gain an understanding of the nature and causes of crime and how the criminal justice system works in the UK and abroad. You will also have the opportunity to undertake voluntary work within the criminal justice system and allied fields, to support your academic studies. This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of criminology, including knowledge of crime, explanations for why people break the law, the workings of the criminal justice and penal systems in the UK and abroad, and criminal investigation. A key strength of this course is the work-based learning modules, where students typically work in areas such as youth offending, victim support, crime prevention, witness support and various policing support roles, including as special constables. The work-based learning provides an invaluable opportunity for students to gain experience in a crime-related field and enhance their chances of finding relevant employment after graduation.
