Course Description

On this course, you will gain an understanding of crime, the courts, corrections and the criminal justice systems in England and Wales. You will also have the opportunity to undertake voluntary work within the criminal justice system and allied fields, to support your academic studies. This is a practical course, which will give you the opportunity to take part in voluntary work associated with the criminal justice sector, if you are not already working in the criminal justice system. You will undertake practical work or voluntary work-based modules throughout the course, giving you contact with, and experience of, the agencies in the criminal justice system. A key strength of this course is the work-based learning modules, where students typically work in areas such as youth offending, victim support, crime prevention, witness support and various policing support roles, including as special constables.
