Advertising, Film and Music Video Production BA(Hons)

Course Description

With accreditation from Creative Skillset and the British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society (BKSTS), and membership of the National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image (NAHEMI), our Advertising, Film and Music Video Production degree will prepare you for a career in creative film/video. You'll learn about ideas generation, proposal writing, project management, client management and budget control. You'll also learn how to produce creative film/videos to a predetermined client brief and a specific deadline. And you'll find out what's needed to fulfil both the client's brief and the target audience's expectations. In Year 1 and Year 2, you'll learn about the production process. You'll work on corporate projects, music promos, adverts and stings. You'll also develop your business skills and learn to work in the technical and creative roles of film/video production. In your final year, you'll complete up to three major productions for real clients. You'll work on live projects with local and national organisations as well as charities and competitions. Throughout the course, you'll work with industry professionals who run local and national production companies. We have our own in-house production company - Unique Productions - that will give you real paid work alongside your studies. Residential trips and visits to advertising and production companies are a key component of this course. You could join a three-day location shoot in the Lake District, a five-day trip to the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, or one of many visits to UK film festivals and UK bases of production - from Media City in Salford, to QVC in London.
