Course Description

The department of Journalism & Mass Communication at SDSU has the right mix of faculty, philosophy, and technology to prepare you for a career in media and related fields. Choose a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts in either Advertising or Journalism with your choice of emphases in broadcast journalism, creative strategies (advertising), interactive media (advertising), news-editorial journalism or public relations (advertising).

Career outcomes

You will gain a solid experience in community journalism working for Independent Publishing, L.L.C., a company that publishes two weekly papers and one monthly paper for three eastern South Dakota communities. A successful candidate should have an understanding of community journalism, be flexible, self-motivated and willing to learn. This position works both independently and as a team member to meet weekly deadlines and aid in larger special projects.
