Computer Business Technology

Course Description

The Computer Business Technology program offers classes in the latest business software, and students can choose from a wide array of courses leading to Certificates of Achievement and Associate in Science Degrees. Our Open-Entry/Open-Exit program is an innovative and successful way to learn. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and choose the days and time you want to attend the open entry/open exit lab in K405: Monday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You need to attend an orientation to the lab during the first two weeks of class. The orientations are at the following times: Mon 6 p.m. Tues, Wed, Thurs at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. computer lab You need to complete all your coursework in the lab. You may enroll throughout the semester up to the last drop date, which is late in the semester for open entry classes. Call the lab for this date as it changes every semester. Class times are scheduled to fit students' busy schedules. After you complete your course requirements and meet your learning objectives, you may leave the course early and receive your grade at the end of the semester. Students will need to go to K405 for more information and Add Codes.

Career outcomes

Students who complete the Computer Business Technology Program will gain facility with: Technological Awareness: Students will be able to evaluate and apply appropriate technology to support specific business activities and business solutions. Critical Thinking: Students will be able to analyze specific business problems or situations and identify possible solutions, including predictive analysis, synthesis of information, resourcefulness, and troubleshooting. Communication: Students will be able to choose the appropriate mode of communication for a specific situation and then communicate ideas, concepts, and solutions through effective written and oral communication. Students will be assessed through a combination of performance evaluations, written assignments, and written tests and quizzes.
