Bachelor of Applied Business Administration

Course Description

This program provides students with the advanced accounting expertise and management skills needed for careers in accounting and financial management. The majority of graduates will go on to pursue a professional accounting designation. The Bachelor of Applied Business Administration program consists of ten academic courses and two directed field studies semesters. This program involves advanced studies in accounting theory, auditing, taxation and e-business with options to study more in-depth courses. This is a two-year full-time program or students have up to seven years to complete the program by studying part-time. The Directed Field Studies (DFS) component of the program involves two 4-month terms of paid work experience which can be completed in eight consecutive months of employment, or in two separate four month terms. This learning component must be completed in an accounting position approved by the Academic Chair. Students are responsible for securing their own employment, with some assistance provided by SAIT. During their employment, students will integrate their academic knowledge with on the job learning, completion of assigned readings, applied research, case analyses and written projects under the guidance of academic mentors.
