Course Description

Physics is the human quest to explore and discover the basic principles and laws that govern the natural world. Most physics students have an inate curiousity about nature, and they heavily utilize mathematics to describe nature. To serve a variety of career objectives and interests, the physics department offers five tracks leading to a baccalaureate degrees: Track A: Preparation to work as a physicist in corporate or governmental research and development activities and/or entering a graduate program for further studies in physics disciplines. Track B: Preparation for pursuing careers in which a strong foundation in physics is essential, such as: engineering, advanced computing, mathematics, communications, optical systems, laser development, pre-medical and pre-law studies. Track C: Secondary School Education. The Physics education program track prepares students for careers teaching Physics in secondary schools. This professional program includes a combined 33 hours of education courses and student teaching experiences that leads to certification for a state-approved teaching license. The employment prospect for this field are excellent. Science teachers are always in short supply. Students will receive a B.S. and B.S.E.E upon graduation. Track D provides the highest level of preparation for both graduate school and positions in industry. Track E: Is a five-year Bachelor of Science in Physics and Master of Business Administration dual degree program. After students have satisfactorily completed their undergraduate requirements, they complete 30 credit hours in the MBA program.
