This is a two-year full-time taught course. It is aimed at students who have a primary degree with a significant Mathematical content (such as Mathematical Studies graduates), but who do not hold an Honours Degree in Mathematics. The MA course is equivalent to taking a Higher Diploma in Mathematics followed by the MSc by examination. A mark of 50% is required to proceed to second year. Candidates who fail to reach the mark of 50% may be awarded a Higher Diploma in Mathematics, subject to a threshold of 40%.

The Course provides a broad introduction to Mathematics at the graduate level, and provides an excellent foundation for those who intend to go on to pursue the PhD.
